SINP – Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is a pathway for individuals to immigrate to Canada by obtaining a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan. The SINP allows the province to nominate individuals who have the skills, experience, and qualifications needed to contribute to the local economy. Below is an overview of the SINP, including the categories, eligibility requirements, and the full process:
1. Categories of SINP
The SINP has several categories through which you can apply for nomination:
- International Skilled Worker Category: For skilled workers abroad who want to work and live in Saskatchewan.
- Express Entry Sub-Category: For candidates in the federal Express Entry pool who have the skills and experience needed by Saskatchewan.
- Occupation In-Demand Sub-Category: For skilled workers with experience in an occupation in demand in Saskatchewan but without a job offer.
- Employment Offer Sub-Category: For skilled workers with a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.
- Saskatchewan Experience Category: For foreign nationals already living and working in Saskatchewan.
- Existing Work Permit Sub-Category: For individuals already working in Saskatchewan with a valid work permit.
- Health Professionals Sub-Category: For doctors, nurses, or other health professionals currently working in Saskatchewan.
- Hospitality Sector Project Sub-Category: For hospitality sector workers (e.g., food and beverage servers, kitchen helpers) working in Saskatchewan.
- Long-Haul Truck Driver Project Sub-Category: For long-haul truck drivers currently working in Saskatchewan.
- Students Sub-Category: For students who have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada and are currently working in Saskatchewan.
- Entrepreneur and Farm Category: For individuals who want to start or buy a business or farm in Saskatchewan.
- Entrepreneur Sub-Category: For individuals looking to establish or acquire and actively operate a business in Saskatchewan.
- Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category: For experienced farmers who plan to buy and operate a farm in Saskatchewan.
2. Eligibility Requirements
Each SINP category has specific eligibility criteria, but general requirements often include:
- Education and Training: A degree, diploma, or certificate that is equivalent to the Canadian educational system.
- Work Experience: Relevant work experience in your field of expertise, often within the last five years.
- Language Proficiency: Language test results that meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) for English or French.
- Job Offer (for some sub-categories): A valid job offer from a Saskatchewan employer in an eligible occupation.
- Proof of Funds: Proof that you have sufficient funds to settle in Saskatchewan.
3. SINP Application Process
Step 1: Determine Eligibility
- Assess your qualifications against the requirements of the SINP category you are interested in.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
- Gather all necessary documents, including education credentials, work experience letters, language test results, proof of funds, and job offer (if applicable).
Step 3: Create an Expression of Interest (EOI)
- For some categories, such as the International Skilled Worker category, you must create an EOI profile through the SINP online portal.
- Your EOI profile will be assessed, and you will be entered into the EOI pool if eligible.
Step 4: Receive an Invitation to Apply
- If your EOI is selected, you will receive an invitation to apply for the SINP.
- If applying under the Saskatchewan Experience category, you can directly apply without an EOI.
Step 5: Submit Your Application
- Complete and submit your application through the SINP online portal.
- Pay the application fee.
Step 6: Application Assessment
- The SINP will assess your application to ensure it meets the requirements.
- Additional documents or an interview may be requested during the assessment.
Step 7: Receive a Nomination
- If your application is approved, you will receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan.
Step 8: Apply for Permanent Residence
- After receiving the SINP nomination, you can apply for permanent residence to the Government of Canada.
- If you are in the Express Entry pool, your CRS score will be boosted, increasing your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Step 9: Immigration and Settlement
- Upon receiving your permanent residence, you can move to Saskatchewan, where you must fulfill the conditions of your SINP nomination.
4. Processing Times and Fees
- The processing time for SINP applications can vary depending on the category.
- The application fee is CAD 350, payable at the time of submission.
5. After Approval
- Once you obtain your permanent residence, you must live and work in Saskatchewan for a certain period as per your nomination agreement.
6. Additional Information
- Regularly check the SINP website for any updates to program requirements and occupation lists.
- Be aware of changes in the federal immigration system, especially if you are applying through the Express Entry sub-category.
This process offers a clear pathway for those looking to immigrate to Saskatchewan, whether through skilled employment, investment, or entrepreneurship.
